Preventive Dentistry

As a caring Dentist, preventive dentistry is a focus at Doncaster Dental.  We believe that if we instill the principles of prevention in our patients, keeping teeth for life is achievable.  Early detection and treatment of problems, regular removal of plaque and calculus, proper tooth brushing technique and fissure sealants form the basis of preventive dentistry.

Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes decay is so extensive that the pulp (“nerve”) of the tooth is irreversibly damaged, or worse, forms an abscess.  In these cases the tooth can be saved by removing the pulp, cleaning out the infected material and filling the root canal space.  Often when back teeth are root-filled the teeth are prone to fracture and may need the protection of a crown.

Periodontal Therapy

Bacteria found in dental plaque can aggressively attack the bone that supports the teeth.  This is periodontal disease.  Periodontal disease causes more tooth loss in adults than anything else.  Thorough scaling and root planning is the first step in the ongoing treatment of periodontal disease. Regular maintenance is required to prevent further destruction and bone loss.

Orthodontic Therapy

Some orthodontic therapy is performed at Doncaster Dental. We use the six month braces technique (sixmonthbraces.com) and INMAN Aligner (inmanaligner.com) to align front teeth in appropriate adult cases. Specialist referral to an orthodontist can be arranged if required.

Cosmetic dentistry

Today’s dental materials and techniques make it possible to achieve amazing cosmetic results.  A smile evaluation and cosmetic simulation can be arranged to give you a realistic image of what is achievable.

Teeth Whitening

Your smile is important. It's one of the first things you notice when you meet someone. Our lifestyle and the aging process can stain and darken our teeth. Many things we do on a regular basis can contribute to stained teeth, such as drinking coffee, tea, cola drinks and red wine or smoking.  A whiter, brighter smile is beautiful - it can help you feel better about yourself and make a memorable impression.

Here at Doncaster Dental we offer two methods of whitening teeth:
1. Zoom

Rapid (90 minutes) whitening with a state-of-the-art lamp, or

2. At Home Whitening

Crown & Bridge Dentistry

Crown & bridge dentistry has been the mainstay of restorative dentistry for decades.  Teeth are prepared and impressions are taken which are sent to a dental laboratory.  The crown or bridge is made to accurately fit over the prepared tooth or teeth is and is cemented into place.

Cracked teeth can be restored with crowns and missing teeth can be replaced with bridges.

Oral Surgery

Minor oral surgery, including the removal of some wisdom teeth, is performed on site.  If a specialist oral surgeon is required a referral can be arranged.

Treatment for Night Time Grinding

If you wake up with a tired face or jaw or if you have cracked, worn or sensitive teeth, you may be grinding your teeth at night, without even knowing it. Regular 6-monthly checkups are the best way to stay on top of such problems, before they become more painful - and expensive - to relieve. Often, such symptoms can be alleviated through the use of a Nightguard – a specially designed, easy-to-use mouthguard that you only use while you’re asleep.

Mouthguards

A mouthguard is a device that fits into the mouth over one or both arches of teeth to protect against injury during contact sports. Everyone playing contact sports should wear a properly fitted mouthguard. This will help to protect the teeth from injury, as well as other more serious injuries.
